Rain threatened the 50 STUNT.com sponsored freestyle comp Sunday morning as riders trickled in to hit the pavement and warm up for the individual freestyle comp. Several riders were there since Thursday honing their skills and dialing in their combos. The slippery conditions didn’t seem to bother these guys, even though one slip of the foot on a wet peg or slick seat would serve up an asphalt breakfast.
Above: Fearless rider lockin in his podium combo in the rain. The crew from Stunt Spot recommended delaying the start of the comp to see what the weather would do later in the afternoon, which turned out to be a smart call. The rain came to a halt, sun came out and the track started to dry after a couple hours of practice for everyone on the open course.

Finally the track is dry in the early afternoon, hundreds of people gather around the perimeter of the course to see what 50 stunting is all about, and see what tricks these riders can pull on a bike made for a 7 year old. The individual freestyle comp was first on the schedule, followed by a longest stoppie comp and best combo. The crowd and the judges were pumped on the run from Joel Miller, he came out of now were sponsored by his MasterCard with some super smooth technical combos that peeled my wig clean off! Flawless throttle control and effortless transitions from trick to trick earned him highest marks on the scorecard, takin home 1st place in the individual run.
Above: Joel Miller showin us how to ride with no hands on the bars and one wheel up! Lewie Hamly came in a very close second place with some of the most technical tricks of the day. Sponcered by 50stunt.com, Lewie is the newest member of the Tight FX Crew and for good reason, with switchbacks, unicycles, no handers, no throttle hand podiums, one handed highchairs, one handed flamingos with huge extension in his bag of tricks it is easy to see why he was at the top of the points at the end of the day. Unfotunatly, not grabbin a stoppie during his run cost him on the judges scorecard. Above: Lewie teachin class with the switchback!
Above: Lewie with the one handed flamingo in a combo! Kenny Cross representin Tight FX and 50stunt.com ripped the course up with killer burnouts during his run on his old school Z50. He was a little off his game during his run, droppin his bike on combos he had locked in during practice, but still pulled off his Patented unicycle and a scored 3rd place with the judges rockin one handed 50/50s, one handed high chair, circles spun on a dime, and burnout combos!
Above: Kenny hittin a 12 oclock burnout switchanded! Next up was the longest stoppie competition. These guys were putting it all on the line with one of the most dangerous tricks on a 50, just a touch to much front brake, and it is over the bars for sure! Not much room for error on a mini when you roll them on the front wheel. Once again Joel Miller stepped up to the plate and cleaned up the competition rollin it out past everyone crackin 80 ft with not much of a runway and a stock 50cc engine. The last comp of the day was the best combo. The Judges were looking for number of tricks tossed in one wheelie and the degree of difficulty. Lewie Hamly had this one on lock rockin 13 technical combos down the length of the track, climbin through to high chair, to side saddle, to opposite side saddle and more without even a blip of the throttle.
Above: Lewi cleanin up the best combo event! JR Luna from Tight FX, also Sponcered by 50STUNT.com is no stranger to combos either. He showed the judges what was up on his pimped out 50, throwin down 12 tricks in on wheelie.
Above: JR takin a seat in the high chair during his run! Kenny Cross wrapped up the combo event with 3rd place on the Z, throwin down a string of tricks from one end of the course to the other. Overall it was a great time, 4 days of open practice followed by a day of competition, then even more riding till the rain came out again later in the afternoon on Sunday. Lookin forward to next year to do it again and thanks to everyone for coming out to show us what you got!
